Mission Ministries Focus
Mission Ministries at Church of the Resurrection develops deeply committed Christians by sending members of our congregation into our community, denomination and world to make disciples and serve others in ways that honor God, share Christ, transform lives and promote justice.
The objective of Mission Ministries at Resurrection West is not to simply recruit and deploy volunteers. Instead, we hope to prepare people to become an active part of God’s loving, life-giving, redeeming concern for all of humankind and creation by providing opportunities for believers to give back and to grow in their relationship with God through service to others beyond the walls of the church.
Whether it is through making donations, joining projects or leading others, we have a place for you in one of our three areas: weekly service, periodic special projects, or Mission Trips that go beyond Kansas City.
Ways to participate:
- FaithWork – Join volunteers of all ages to serve on the 2nd Saturday morning of each month.
- Bread Ministry – Collect, sort, and redistribute bread from bakeries to area agencies to feed those in need.
- Collection Ministry – Volunteers sort donated items and distribute them throughout Kansas City.
- Compassion International – Support and sponsor a child in another country to provide food, education, and other resources to their family.
- Disaster Relief – Collect and distribute disaster relief materials, while volunteers are trained and deployed to communities stricken by disaster.
- Food Bank Ministry – Collect, sort and deliver food in urban Kansas City.
- Foster Care Ministry – Be a friend, foster or adopt a child.
- Habitat for Humanity – Build houses in urban Kansas City.
- JOY in Service Holiday Missions – Plan and implement holiday missions.
- MLK Holiday Observance – A day on, not a day off.
- Mission Trips – Outreach, construction and medical trips to Honduras, Africa and Ukraine.
- Leading in Missions – Help develop mission ministries.
Volunteering
Ready to get connected? There are numerous opportunities to serve within the Resurrection West community or beyond the walls of the church. Love to mentor others? Could you spend time with our students at youth events or teach children in Sunday School? If you are artistic, you could be part of a team that designs the look of our worship space.
There are opportunities to serve with music, the team that loads our portable church each week, in the nursery, on our communications team, teaching adults, on the prayer team and more. Whether you are looking for a place to volunteer once a month or you would like to get deeply connected in the leadership at Resurrection West, we welcome you to serve God in this community.
