Pioneers

Just 20 years ago, a group of “pioneers” began a church in Southeastern Johnson County. Their dream was to reach thinking people who were not actively involved in a church — to help them see how the Bible and the Christian faith could change their lives and how they in turn could change the world. Led by Pastor Adam Hamilton, The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection is today one of the fastest growing churches in America.

Growth

True to this pioneer spirit, in August 2006, Resurrection expanded to a second location in Western Johnson County. This enthusiastic congregation began meeting each week at Prairie Trail Junior High. They worshipped, they studied the Bible, they nurtured their children. . . and they invited their friends and neighbors to join them! Today, Resurrection West is home to more than 450 families, and we are eager to take the next step — to put down roots and build a church home.

The Plans

Land Dedication

Land Dedication
October 25, 2009

In 2009, a 23-acre parcel of land at the southwest corner of the K-7 and K-10 intersection in Olathe was selected for the Resurrection West Campus. The architectural firm Helix was selected to develop a multi-phased master plan, intended to guide the development of the property over the next 10 -20 years. The first phase will be approximately 18,000-20,000 square feet, with occupancy by Christmas 2011. The ongoing design process involves Resurrection West working with the architects to dream big about the future and to develop a design for facilities that will allow us to grow in ministry for years to come!
